Program elements

Leadership West Yellowhead is a fantastic personal and professional development opportunity available to residents of the West Yellowhead region.

The program has three elements: Program Days, the Community Action Project, and the Mentor Program.

Program Days

The Program Days provide over 70 hours of contact time over 7 months. These consist of a 2-day Opening Retreat in April 2012, six Learning Days scheduled monthly between May and September, and a 2-day Closing Retreat in October 2012.

The Program Days include top-quality leadership content, delivered by experienced facilitators with a wide variety of backgrounds.

Thanks to a partnership with Hinton’s Evergreen Toastmasters Club, the program includes a strong emphasis on developing Effective Communication and Presentation Skills. Learners have the opportunity to learn and practice valuable skills useful for all types of communication and presentations.

Community Action Projects

The class is divided into teams to complete a project for a regional organization between June and October.

For more information on Community Action Projects, visit the CAP page.

Mentor Program

Each participant has the opportunity to be matched with a mentor from Fall 2012 to June 2013.

The mentor relationship provides an opportunity for learners to further expand their leadership network, and to learn new ideas around leadership, through the connection with a more senior leader in their area of interest.

Visit the Mentors page for more information.
